Risk
Assessment
6 hours
|
This workshop covers the legal requirements of risk
assessment, provides information on the practicalities
of carrying out risk assessments in a logical and defendable
way and the knowledge and skills to apply this to any
situation.
This course will be tailored to the work of the individual
organisation e.g. general risk assessment, office work,
call centres, housing associations etc
For Care Organisations training will focus on residential
care, supporting groups or individuals in their own
homes, working with alcohol/ drug users and the homeless,
learning and physical disabilities. |

Fire
Safety Awareness
3 hours |
Organisations
have the responsibility to ensure all staff receive
fire safety awareness training to ensure they act appropriately
when the alarm sounds – includes the role of the
designated Fire Warden. |

Safer
Handling (objects)
3 hours |
Awareness workshop on the legislation surrounding safer
handling and the practicalities of carrying out both
informal and formal risk assessments.
It includes information on back care and practice sessions
on good moving and handling techniques. |

Child
Protection Awareness
4 hours |
Interactive
workshop exploring the legal duties and requirements
Organisations now have under the Protection of Children
(Scotland) Act 2003 – and how this relates to
the every day practices of working with Children and
Young People. |

Essential
Health and Safety for Managers and Team Leaders
5 hours |
This
workshop aims to raise awareness of the importance of
H&S when managing staff. This course is particularly
useful for those who need an overview of H&S Legislation
and responsibilities but do not need to undertake a
H&S Qualification. |

Stress
Management and Risk Assessment
4 hours |
The
HSE has produced Stress Management Standards and guidance
on risk assessment, this workshop focuses on the standards,
the risk factors/assessment and how this relates to
supporting staff. |

Infection
Control for Care Workers and Key Workers
3 hours or 5 hours for the key worker course –
facilitated by a Registered General Nurse |
This
workshop gives Delegates knowledge of the basic aspects
of Infection Control they need to support Service Users
in their own homes/residential settings.
A more in depth course (for Key Workers) is also provided
in response to the new Infection Control Standards for
Care Homes. |

Inspections
4 hours |
This
practical course provides delegates with an understanding
of the principles of effective H&S inspections.
Delegates will learn how to conduct the inspection and
how to write a report – highlighting compliance
requirements and opportunities for improvement. |

Lone
Working/Dealing with Violence and Aggression
4 hours |
This
workshop provides delegates with an awareness of their
own personal safety and practical tips on how to minimise
potentially difficult situations – whether they
work 1:1 within the community, support people in their
own homes, work in an office or you may be vulnerable
or potentially at risk due to the nature of your job,
the times you work or the location you work in. |

Understanding
and Working with Challenging Needs.
6 hours |
This
is a practical course aims to enable participants to
gain a better understanding of working with service
users whose behaviours may be difficult to manage and
therefore challenge staff and services.
It also aims to highlight the importance of effective
communication in a crisis and pro-active risk assessment. |

Health & Safety Awareness

Workshop
providing a basic knowledge of H&S. This course
covers Legislation and a snapshot of Risk Assessment,
Accident Reporting, Using Work Equipment, DSE, COSHH,
and Fire – this course can be tailored to the
individual organisation. |

½ day interactive workshop for anyone who uses
a pc or a laptop as a significant part of their work
and therefore requires a workstation assessment. |

Essential
workshop for homeworkers and employers considering workers
being home based. Covers legislation, risk assessment
and practical aspects of working at or from home. |

workshop for those who are office based focussing on
the common hazards in the office and how to promote
good safety standards in the office environment. |
